Returns a pseudorandom value in the range 0.0 (inclusive) to 1.0 (exclusive).

Syntax 

 
1random()

Returns 

Returns a pseudorandom value in the range 0.0 <= x < 1.0 as a double precision value.

Considerations 
  • The characteristics of the returned values depend on the system implementation.
  • random() isn’t suitable for cryptographic applications.

Examples 

Generate a Random Value 

Return a pseudorandom value.

1SELECT random() AS result;

Returns a value such as 0.6817331.
