Returns the absolute value of a number.

Syntax 

 
1abs(<x>)

Arguments 

Required 
  • <x>: The numeric value to evaluate.

Returns 

Returns the absolute value by using the same data type as the input.

Examples 

Get an Absolute Value 

Return the magnitude of a negative number.

1SELECT abs(-17.4) AS result;

Returns 17.4.
